2010 Winter Games Vancouver- American Lindsey Vonn the Alpine Skiing Favorite

Lindsey Vonn and her growing legion of fans are hoping that she will strike gold in the hills of Whistler, Vancouver after winning a gold medal a year ago in the Super-G at the World Championships, as well as a World Cup Crown last March.

Before Vonn became the most successful female American alpine skier in World Cup history, her career started as a 2 year old skier in St.Paul, Minnesota where she was born and raised. She moved out to Vail, Colorado as a teenager and trained there and soon moved up the ranks in the international skiing world when she was the first American to captured the slalom title at the Trofeo Topolino in Italy in 1999. In 2000 as a US Ski Team member she debuted in the World Cup in Park City, Utah.

Vonn went on to the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City where she competed in the combined and slalom finishing in 6th place in the combined skiing event.

Lindsey Vonn made her big breakthrough skiing in the 2008 World Cup where she took the title as overall Champion and defended the title in 2009 at the World Championships in France along with a Super-G title there, and a Gold medal in the downhill just days later.

No doubt, all eyes will be on Lindsey Vonn skiing into more history as the 2010 Winter Olympic Games are set to begin Friday February 12 in Vancouver.
